SAMe: as effective as NSAID’s
without the side effects
SAM-e has been shown in a number of tests to bring
arthritis pain relief at the same level of the often
prescribed NSAID’s, piroxicam and naproxin - without side
effects, providing an important celebrex alternative and vioxx alternative.
Clinical research has shown SAM-e to play an
important part in cartilage formation and repair. In
in-vitro tests, SAM-e is seen to increase the blood
levels of proteoglycans - the starting spot of cartilage formation.
SAMe (S-adenosyl-L-methionine), is a natural occurring
amino acid manufactured within the body. But, certain people with deficiency
of B-12, methionine, or folicacid may suffer from decreased SAMe synthesis.
Also, elderly people and those suffering from depression, osteoarthritis,
chronic joint pain, muscle pain and various liver disorders usually
have low amounts of SAMe in their body tissues.
S-Adenosyl Methionine
(SAM-e) is an amino acid. It is needed for the production of glutathione,
an antioxidant that protects the body from the damage of free radicals.
SAMe improves there pair of neurotransmitters to the receptors sites
of the brain.
In a metastudy on the effects of SAMe on liver disease,
arthritis pain, and depression done by Health and Human Services’ Agency
for Healthcare Research and Quality, it was found to work effectually
for all 3 conditions. On osteoarthritis, SAMe proved to be aseffective
at relieving joint pain and arthritis pain relief as NSAIDs. On depression,
SAMe was shown as good as common anti depressant therapy; on liver disease,
SAMe brought up intrahepatic cholestasis (cholesterol deposits of the
liver) and
brought down serum bilirubin levels, itching involved with intrahepatic
cholestasis and jaundice. Until now, it was expensive to produce, and
as such unavailable to the public as anarthritis treatment, though it
is fairly well tested.
SAMe is the most active methyl-donor of the body, meaning it gives methyl
groups to the other chemical compounds of the body, including neurotransmitters,
which is effective in a program of long term pain management and short
term arthritis pain relief, as well as a safe substitutefor prescription
anti depressant drugs.
